Né en 1904, écrivant de la S.F. depuis 1926, Hamilton abandonne en 1948 les voies classiques des étoiles et des flottes d’astronefs pour cette vallée de L’Lare au cœur du Tibet. La télépathie y lie hommes et animaux, ainsi la reine Nsharra vit en communion avec un aigle, un loup, un tigre, devenus ses frères d’armes. Et l’esprit du héros revêtira un moment le corps d’un loup gris. (Jacques Van Herp.)
